Dry Shampoo product recalls and what you need to know.
Many well-known Dry Shampoo brands are being recalled, and consumers are understandably concerned.
However, rest assured that not all Dry Shampoos are created equal, and we want to chat about why and which ones you could choose because, well, Dry Shampoo is Life, right?
As reported by CNN Health, Dry Shampoos are being voluntarily recalled in large numbers due to the detection of alarming levels of the carcinogenic chemical Benzene in the propellants. It was found after a citizen petition was sent to the US Food and Drug Administration that the lab described that among 148 batches from 34 different brands of dry shampoo products, 70% of samples tested showed "quantifiable" levels of Benzene.[1]
Here's what you should know about Benzene.
Benzene is a volatile chemical that produces a wide range of industrial products, including chemicals, dyes, detergents, and some plastics. Benzene is formed from both natural processes, such as volcanoes and human activities, such as tobacco smoke, automobile emissions, and burning coal and oil.[2]
Benzene is a known carcinogenic and has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, particularly leukemia.
According to the American Cancer Society, the primary way people are exposed is by breathing in air containing benzene.
We've known for a while now that the aerosol disbursement of these products is cause for concern due to the propellants and the microparticles sprayed into the air, which can then be inhaled over time.
But, Dry Shampoos is Life; what will I do without them?
Choosing spray-free Dry Shampoos is just as effective and potentially better for your health. There are several natural options, and choosing BodFoods Organic Dry Shampoo, containing no chemicals, is one of them.
