Algae Sea Minerals for scalp and hair health.
As we prepare to launch Australia's first Algae Sea Minerals Hair and Body Care range, we thought, what better time to share what has got us so excited about this range and the incredible ingredients that have gone into it!
Algae is not new to the personal care industry. However, there is a buzz around it, and we can understand why.
Did you know that Algae Sea Minerals are considered to be some of the most nutrient-dense ingredients on the planet! BodFood has chosen five key Sea Minerals to include in our new Algae Sea Minerals Range after carefully researching the qualities and components of each algae to ensure that they will address a number of hair and skin conditions, naturally!
Algae is incredibly rich in vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and amino acids, making it a potent ingredient for both skin and hair, and the best part is that it is suited for all skin types.
BodFoods unique Algae Sea Minerals blend consists of the five following extremely powerful algae:
Australian Atlantic Kelp - is a potent, natural source of iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium and iodine. It is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D, and E, so many of the essential nutrients ensure healthy hair growth. Kelp also contains laminaria angustata, which is believed to thicken hair and stimulate growth. Sea Kelp is known as the Aloe Vera of the sea; incredibly soothing, hydrating and nourishing for the skin, it can address many common skin complaints. It really is a superfood for your skin and hair!
Wakame (Alaria Marginata) Again, this sea mineral is bursting with many powerful nutrients, particularly high in calcium and Vitamin A, phytoestrogens and omega-3 essential fatty acids. As with all seaweeds, it contains a vast range of antioxidants and trace elements that help prevent cell damage by binding with free radicals. Wakame is also incredible for healing inflamed skin due to its high levels of B group Vitamins.
Organic Spirulina (Spirulina Platensis) was the first superfood on earth! Rich in a wide range of essential nutrients, including zinc, B vitamins, vitamin E, several antioxidants, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, and chlorophyll, it is a powerhouse of an ingredient for your hair and skin. It is made up of 70% protein, fatty acid and iron, all things required for luscious, healthy hair growth and skin vitality! The antioxidants are responsible for treating hair loss and can help with the appearance of dull skin and signs of aging as they can counteract oxidative stress. Your scalp will LOVE spirulina, too, as its antimicrobial properties can reduce dandruff; it will soothe and moisturise the scalp thanks to the high protein and amino acids.
Organic Chlorella (Chlorella Vulgaris) is a single-celled green water algae with many incredible benefits. Containing nucleic acids and all B vitamins, including active vitamin B12, chlorophyll and iron. Strong hair follicles require regular, fresh blood flow, and this blood flow provides nutrients that are essential for healthy hair growth. B vitamins, including B12, help to create red blood cells; these carry oxygen and nutrients in the blood to places like the scalp and hair follicles, enhancing hair growth, strength and a glossy shine. Chlorella's ability to fight free radicals makes it a potent ingredient for our skin too.
Last, but by no means the least, is Irish Moss; yes, it is considered algae, too, and one of the most potent of them all!
Irish Moss Studies have found that Irish Moss contains around 15 essential elements, this may not sound like a lot; however, the human body needs 18 elements to survive, and this algae contains almost all of them! It is now considered that Irish moss is the plant with the highest nutritive profile of all known seaweeds.
So what does this mean for your hair and skin? The vitamins A, C, D, E, and K, an abundance of B vitamins, and collagen and protein are all vital for building strong, healthy hair and radiant, vital-looking skin. The carrageenan that forms 55% of the moss’ dry weight, though, is believed to provide the most benefit to your hair and skins health; it can target hair follicles, repair damaged, brittle hair, can treat an itchy, inflamed scalp and provide incredible moisture to the skin overall.
So, as you can see, Algae Sea Minerals contain some of the most potent vitamins, minerals and antioxidants known, all of which can rapidly transform your hair and skin naturally.
Get ready, Australia; the power of Sea Minerals and the essence of Mermaidia are about to revolutionise the hair and skin care industry. Will you be joining us?
Yours in health and well-being,
Heather and Linda x
